Heritage Open Days - Wonderful Willen through a sociological lens

This guided walk will start from The Tree Cathedral and along the way visit the Peace Pagoda and inside St Mary Magdelene Church at the north end of Willen Lake.  There will be a discussion about what these landmarks might tell us about the community of Milton Keynes from a Sociological perspective, for example, has their role and function changed over time and how might they change in the future?

There will also be an opportunity to find out about the work of The Parks Trust in ensuring that these areas are available to be enjoyed by the people of Milton Keynes.

We will mostly be following the main paths although we may venture into grassland to get up close to some features.

Please wear suitable footwear. This is a mainly flat route but there are some steps within the Tree Cathedral and up to the Peace Pagoda. The walk will be at a brisk pace to enable us to see a range of features in the given time. You may wish to allow extra time to explore the area around Willen Lake at the end of the walk.

Meeting at  the Tree Cathedral Car Park, Newlands.
