Workshop: An introduction to whittling
Join us on Saturday 26th April at Elfield Nature Park to learn the basics of whittling.
Whittling is the process of using a knife to carve shapes out of raw wood. In this introductory session you will learn the basic skills needed to be able to enjoy this relaxing craft form.
You will learn how to hold the knife correctly, optimum seating positions and how to hold your material to give you the best technique. You will then have time to put your skills to practice making items that you can take away with you.
This is an introductory session designed for those with no previous experience.
This event is part of our outdoor learning programme which is designed to help people learn more about their local parks and the natural environment.Booking is essential. This workshop is an adult-only session. All participants must be aged 18 years or over.
There are no toilets available at Elfield Nature Park. Elfield Nature Park is a closed site that has uneven ground, steps and steep slopes. This session will involve some walking around the site and sitting on log stumps. Please get in touch on outdoorlearning@theparkstrust.com if you require any accessibility support or to request a hearing loop.
