Workshop: Introduction to Whittling

Join our team for an introduction to the exciting and inspiring craft of whittling. We will cover topics such as how to harvest your own materials sustainably, knife safety, basic tool care and most importantly, you'll be able to take whatever you manage to create in the allocated time. This event also takes place at a beautiful, secluded and private park - Elfield Nature Park. This site is usually closed to the public, so it is a great opportunity to explore somewhere new. All equipment and materials will be provided for you.

Elfield Nature Park is closed to the public, with a small private car park. There will be a short walk around the site followed by a steep set of stairs to the "base camp" area where the activities will take place. Most of the site is uneven in terrain, with a couple of boardwalks. Whittling will require the use of both hands. Please do get in touch if you have any accessibility needs that you'd like to discuss. There is a seating area at base camp, where we will spend the majority of the session. The session will be taking place entirely outside so please dress accordingly for the weather. There are no toilets at this site. A hearing loop is available on request. Please contact us on outdoorlearning@theparkstrust.com for any further accessibility information or support.
