Walking Festival: Globetrotting: A Literary Walk around the World

‘There was nowhere to go but everywhere’  JACK KEROUAC

Join Duncan Minshull at 2pm on May 12th for an enlightening stroll around Campbell Park and beyond, weaving in fascinating stories from his latest collection, Globetrotting: Writers Walk The World.

Hear from those who have walked parts of the seven continents, from Charles Darwin, DH Lawrence, and Katharine Mansfield to William Boyd, Michèle Roberts and Helen Garner. Duncan will transport you to Paris and to Rome, to the frozen wastes of Antarctica, to the pilgrim paths of Japan; capturing the joys and hardships of foot travel, and pose the question of why we choose to set off in the first place.

Duncan Minshull is a former BBC producer, anthologist, and writer. His collections include Globetrotting, Beneath My Feet: Writers on Walking and Sauntering: Writers Walk Europe.

The walk begins and ends at The Parks Trust in Campbell Park, and will take approximately 90 minutes, covering around 3 miles. Duncan will also be signing copies of his books after the walk.

Meeting at: Campbell Park Pavilion, 1300 Silbury Blvd
