FREE Walking Festival: Introduction to Nordic Walking Walking Festival: Introduction to Nordic Walking Discover the benefits of being active outdoors with this introduction to Nordic Walking.

Join this introduction to Nordic Walking in Campbell Park on Sunday 11 May at 10am. Discover the benefits of being active outdoors, but without the pressure on your body that comes with vigorous activities like running.

Equipment for use during the event will be provided for you, but please come wearing sturdy footwear and be prepared for off road walking.

FREE Walking Festival: Discover Floodplain Forest Walking Festival: Discover Floodplain Forest Discover the history of this unique nature reserve and the surrounding area.

Discover this haven of peace and tranquility on the North Western edge of the city, a short walk of about three miles. As well as the Floodplain we'll be looking at the remains of Old Wolverton Medieval Village, taking in Wolverton Motte and Bailey Castle site and the route of the canal diversion that was put in place when the Iron Trunk Aquaduct collapsed in 1808.

The walk duration will be 60-90 minutes. Please note, Floodplain Forest has a number of steep slopes and the route will include some grass paths.

FREE Walking Festival: Linford Wood & Homeworld Walking Festival: Linford Wood & Homeworld Join us for a leisurely walk in two contrasting parts.

This walk starts at the 700-year-old ancient woodland, Linford Wood. Enjoy nature as we follow an ancient hedge and look out for wood carved sculptures, plants and wildlife.

From there, we will head over to explore the 1981 Homeworld Exhibition - a series of novel house designs created by architects from around the world. These houses are now private dwellings, but can be viewed from the public footpath without upsetting the current owners.

The 5.7km walk starts at Linford Wood car park and will take approximately 2 hours to complete. This walk is on mostly paved footpaths and redways, but partly unpaved bridleways in the wood. The route is step-free, but can be very muddy in wet weather. Please wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather.

Get closer to nature on this introduction to bird watching walk on Saturday 10 May at 8am. This walk will be at a gentle pace and we will make several stops to listen to and watch birds. Perfect for nature enthusiasts of all ages!

Our walk leader will point out common species and possibly a spring migrant or two. The route will include stopping off at the bird hide at Willen Lake North. Suitable for complete beginners, but please bring binoculars if you have them.

£3.00 Walking Festival: Canterbury Tales Walking Festival: Canterbury Tales Enjoy a storytelling stroll at the Tree Cathedral.

Enjoy an immersive story telling event with the Red Pheonix as part of this year's Walking Festival.

In, The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer recounts a storytelling competition, which is filled with sex, drinking and retribution, by a set of fictious characters on a pilgrimage to Canterbury Cathedral. At this evening event, people will make their own pilgrimage around the Tree Cathedral in Milton Keynes stopping around the site to hear the stories, including, among others: the Wife of Bath’s tale about a salacious Knight of Arthur’s round table, the Paradoners’s tale of foolish fellows trying to outwit death, and of course the crude but hilarious Miller’s tale of adultery, backsides and comeuppance. Please note, all attendees must be aged 16+.

Join Camphill Communities for a walk around Willen Lake, offering a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery and meet new people.

You can join residents and staff from Camphill MK on this walk, on Thursday 8 May or Friday 9 May at 4pm. This walk will start at Camphill Café.

Depending on the weather, participants will walk between 1.5 and 2.5 miles at a gentle pace, following the Willen route. This route includes notable landmarks such as the labyrinth, Peace Pagoda, Tree Cathedral, and then back to Camphill.

Cold drinks will be available after the walk, providing a perfect opportunity to cool down, relax, and socialize. This event is exclusively for adults, and unfortunately, dogs are not permitted.

FREE Walking Festival: A May Meander - Oakridge, Castlethorpe & Cosgrove Walking Festival: A May Meander - Oakridge, Castlethorpe & Cosgrove Discover the north of Milton Keynes on foot.

Join Beds, Bucks and Northants LDWA on a 16-mile circular walk of north Milton Keynes. Starting at Stanton Low Park, this long distance route will pass through Oakridge, Castlethorpe and Cosgrove.

Attendees will need to dress for the weather and bring food and drink with them. There will be a stop for a drink at a pub along the way but there will not be sufficent time to dine. The walk will be at a brisk pace and will take over 4 hours to complete. Please note, this event is adults only and only assistance dogs are permitted.

The SMOC team will show you how to access fun navigation adventures using an App called “MapRun”. Walk, jog or run – the challenge is this up to you. Families, hikers and runners are all welcome. 

Organised by the SMOC, active in Milton Keynes since 1986, this event provides an opportunity to explore the parks at your own pace. It's a fantastic way to enjoy the countryside while challenging both your fitness and mental skills.

Navigate your way between control points shown on a map with location enabled by GPS technology.

This is a free event. Book your place for an introduction to using the app and the basics of orienteering. Suitable for all ages but under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.
