ODL: Tree Tots
Pre-school toddlers and their parents are invited to join our education team for a “Nature Play” session in Howe Park Wood.
The session is specifically designed for pre- school children and their parents or carers. Activities will vary according to the weather and the season and can include mud kitchens, swinging in hammocks, playing with water, exploring and collecting natural treasure, balancing on ropes.
We provide the equipment and the children can explore with their adult, helping them to develop their play and sensory skills.
We have adpated the session during the period of Covid. Changes include:
- Two 40 minute sessions for a maximum of 15 people (including adults) with charge of £1 per person
- Sanitation stations
- Cleaning between each session
- Parents will need to keep their children in their own bubbles as they are moving around the activities
Maximum 3 children per adult
Please all come dressed appropriately for the weather as we believe children should have the opportunity to experience the wild outdoors - rain, sun and snow! We only cancel if there is extreme weather, such as very high winds, and you will be sent a notification on those rare occassions. Paths may be muddy in the winter.
If you have any questions concerning the session, please contact us: treetots@theparkstrust.com or on 01908 972950.
Events

Outdoor nature play has many proven benefits for pre-schoolers. It supports their development, stimulates their senses, improves creativity, and boosts immunity.
That’s why our Outdoor Learning Team runs Tree Tots, a weekly 50-minute nature play session that enables you and your little ones to join in all kinds of outdoor fun alongside other children, parents and carers – for just £1 per person!
Taking place in a dedicated area of Howe Park Wood every Thursday at 10am (Winter) or 10am and 11am (Summer), Tree Tots offers a range of seasonal activities designed just for under-5s. You’ll get to join in all kinds of fun things that connect you and your little one with nature – from ‘cooking’ in mud kitchens, balancing on ropes and swinging in hammocks to playing with water, exploring the woods and collecting natural treasure.
Tree Tots takes place in all weathers (unless it’s very extreme) because we believe that children should have the opportunity to experience the wild outdoors – whether that’s rain, wind, sun or snow. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather.
Please purchase one ticket per person attending including adults and children. Maximum 3 children per adult.
We do not refund bookings.

Join us for an extra special version of Toddle Tots as part of the Walking Festival 2025!
Enjoy a short wander through the woods with your tots aged 0-5. We will explore the ancient woodland at Howe Park Wood and chat about the things we see along the way, stopping to use our senses to explore our surroundings.
This walk will be supported by a member of our Outdoor Learning Team who will guide the group through the woods on an exploratory adventure!
This short walk is in association with Tree Tots - our child-led free-play sessions which take place each Thursday morning at Howe Park Wood.
Please come dressed appropriately for the weather as we believe children should have the opportunity to experience the wild outdoors - rain, sun and everything inbetween! We only cancel if there is extreme weather, such as very high winds, and you will be sent a notification on those rare occasions.
We will be using a woodchip path which can become boggy following wet weather so please bear this in mind if you are hoping to bring a buggy. We would like to make these events enjoyable for all so please email outdoorlearning@theparkstrust.com to discuss any accessibility requirements - the route and the session can be adapted to accommodate these.
The walk will start at 1.30pm and finish around 2.30pm. Free accessible car parking is available close to the meeting point. Accessible toilets with changing facilities are available, as well as a cafe serving hot and cold food and drinks should you wish to continue your visit after the walk.
Tickets cost £1 per person (for children and adults). Babies under 6 months are more than welcome to join and do not need to book a space.
Spaces are limited so book today to secure your place!
